The blue filter sponges for the BioTec ScreenMatic² 40000/90000 flow-through filters are easy to use and clean. They are components of the biological/mechanical filtration system in the BioTec filter: Coarse dirt particles are retained in the large-pored blue bio-filters. Through oxygenation, Nitrosomonas bacteria quickly form in the blue zone, converting ammonia, which is extremely harmful to fish, into nitrite.
